Your Homecoming
Today I did the little things,
The little things that mean so much
To give a home that "woman's touch."
I fluffed your towels, so soft and white,
I placed the candles in a row,
Their perfumed fragrance and their glow
Would fill the room, reflecting love,
Shared by two hearts...
Born from above.
I dreamed of how my heart would race
When first I looked upon your face,
And how we'd share a warm embrace.
I dreamed today of many things,
Unspoken dreams...
on Angel's wings.
Now, all my dreams are "Yesterday's"
You have returned...
Oh "Happy" Day!
Poetry by Helen Thompson
August 5th, 2005
Written especially for me by Helen.
Dedicated especially to my wonderful
daughter-in-law, Vicky, who was awaiting
the return of her beloved husband,
my son Ray, from Afghanistan.
This poem is also dedicated to all wives
& sweethearts everywhere on the safe,
long-awaited homecoming of their
military loved ones.
