Did You?
Dear God:
Did you wipe away our tears
Drop by drop, throughout the years?
Did you place them in a bottle?
Precious content - born of sorrow
Or of joy, today, tomorrow.
Did you save our Savior's tears
When He faced his greatest fears?
Did you catch His Mother's loss
When she viewed Him on a cross?
Did you form Heaven's crystal sea
From such pain and agony?
Did you?
Poetry by Helen Thompson
Psalm 56:8 says that God saves our tears in a bottle.

An interesting thing happened while looking for this song that I knew as "Tears In A Bottle". I could only find one copy of it on the Internet, on the web page above. Then, I decided to ask Margi Harrell if she knew of it, and if she had a copy of it that she had performed. I received a quick reply saying that she has known of the song for years, with it being sung in her church,
but she knew it as "For Those Tears". She sent me her version of it, which pleases me no end. Both Helen and I love Margi's wonderful piano playing. So you will be able to hear both versions of this song, hers on this page and on the other page, the one that I found orginally. Here are the words to that song as I know them.
For Those Tears I Died
You said you'd come and share all my sorrows
You said you'd be there for all my tomorrows
I came so close to sending you away
And just like you promised, you came there to stay
I just had to pray.
Chorus
And Jesus said, Come to the water, stand by my side,
I know you are thirsty, you won't be denied.
I felt every teardrop when in darkness you cried,
And I strove to remind you that for those tears I died.
Repeat Chorus
Your goodness so great I can't understand,
And, dear Lord, I know that this was all planned.
Saviour, you're here now, and always will be.
Your love is so great and always so free, Jesus and me.
Repeat Chorus
Jesus, I give you my heart and my soul.
I know, without God I'd never be whole,
Saviour, you opened up all the right doors,
And I thank you and praise you from earth's humble shores.
Take me, I'm yours.
Repeat Chorus
